Creating a National Voice on Sustainable Consumption |
One Earth Initiative and My Sustainable Canada are in the early stages of identifying strategic partnerships and activities that would lead to the creation of a national voice on sustainable consumption in Canada. 1st North American Workshop on Sustainable Consumption and Production My Sustainable Canada was invited by UNEP and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) to develop and present a background paper (available in two parts: "Producing and Consuming Sustainably in North America" and "Trends and Observations Specific to Sustainable Consumption and Production") on Sustainable Consumption and Production from the Canadian perspective for the first North American Workshop on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) in Washington (Nov 2008). The aim of the multi stakeholder meeting was to define a regional approach to advance SCP in North America and also to contribute to the global Marrakech Process. Creating a Network on Sustainable Consumption with Environmental Groups in Canada |
Under the auspices of the Canadian Environment Network, My Sustainable Canada initiated the development of a network on sustainable consumption within Environmental groups in Canada. Creating a Network of Academics on Sustainable Consumption Across Canada My Sustainable Canada has initiated the groundwork for a network of Canadian academics who are interested in various aspects of sustainable consumption. The objective of this network would be to promote a close working relationship between researchers and practitioners of sustainable consumption where researchers would help guide the development of appropriate tools, and practitioners would oversee the implementation of such tools in conjunction with academics. |

Past Accomplishments of our Management Team |
Strategic Partnerships and Campaigns Mobilized Canadian Support for the Creation of the North American Sustainable Consumption Alliance |
In order for North American organizations to work more collaboratively on sustainable consumption issues the North American Sustainable Consumption Alliance (NASCA) was created in 2001. NASCA serves as a forum for partners in Canada, US and Mexico to facilitate the exchange of information about sustainable consumption across borders and among different sectors of society (government, academia, business and industry, NGOs). |
Led the Design of the North American Sustainable Consumption and Production Database |
The North American Sustainable Consumption and Production Database is an initiative of the North American Sustainable Consumption Alliance (NASCA). The database aims at facilitating cooperation among organizations in Canada, United States and Mexico that are interested in promoting sustainable consumption and production initiatives and programs. The Database is also intended as a resource for citizens to learn about projects or initiatives that they can support, join, or replicate in their own community. |
